What’s Valentines Day without some Conversation Heart candy? These cute little sugary treats are decorated with adorable sayings such as “I love you”, “xoxo”, “Kiss Me”, etc. I decided to recreate this coveted Valentines candy, except freehand painted on my nails. They are by no means perfect, but considering the space I had to work with and letters are not my strong point, I don’t think these turned out half bad. The majority of these nail designs I have seen online are done using a stamping technique- which gives a much neater look, but I do all of my nail art designs by hand.
Materials used….
- Julep “Abbie” (yellow)
- Julep “Brielle” (orange)
- Kiss Nail Art “black”
- Julep “Bess” (light blue)
- Julep “Kendra”(green)
- Butter London “Teddy Bear” (light pink)
- detail nail art brush
-Julep Freedom Polymer Topcoat
Time to get started!
1. Paint each nail a different bright color. I applied two coats of each bright color I was using in this design- allow to dry for 5 minutes.
2. Using your nail art brush, paint heart shapes in contrasting colors all over the nails. Refer to my tutorial on creating the “Perfect Heart” if needed.
3. Using your black polish with your detail brush, create fun sayings inside of the heart shapes. This will take the longest, patience is key- use small, short motions with the polish. Mine turned out a tad sloppy, but not too bad!
4. Apply your favorite topcoat and you’re good to go!
What is your favorite Valentine’s Day candy?
xoxo- Megan
