Valentines day is right around the corner, so it’s time to create those adorable “heart” themed nails you see all over Pinterest this time of year! Hearts can be a tricky nail design to get down, it’s not your average shape. Today I am going to show you step-by-step how to easily create a heart in any size, any color, and with any nail length. With a bit of practice and patience, you too can be rocking these sweet nails on the most loving day of the year!
Polishes you will need:
- White (Julep Nicolette)
-Pink/Red (Julep Avery)
- Dotting tool ( tip of pen/pencil, bobby pin, toothpick, etc.)
- Topcoat (Julep Freedom Polymer Topcoat)
Lets begin….
Begin by prepping your nails with your choice of polish (white/pink) and allow this to dry for about 5 minutes. I alternated shades of pink and white to give my nails that Valentine’s Day feel.
1. Using your dotting tool and pink polish, create one small dot in the lower 1/3 of the nail.
2. Add two more small dots above the original dot, almost like you’re making a “V” shape.
3. Connect the dots by dragging the polish from the original dot to each newly painted dot. Then, drag the polish in a straight line down the center of the nail.
4. Drag the pink polish from the top of the “V” and connect it down to the center line you just created. Round out the sides and ta-da, you’ve got the outline of your heart finished!
5. Fill in your fabulous heart with the pink polish! If needed, you can touch up the edges with a bit of white polish as well for a cleaner look.
6. Apply your favorite topcoat and you are finished!
You can play up this design with some glitter, cute polka dots, stripes, anything you want to make your nails that much more unique! Stay tuned for more fun Valentine’s Day nail art coming up in the next week. Have a sweet & fab week everyone!
